I used black beans as the base and then tons of magnets and a variety of magnetic and NON magnetic things. I wanted to make sure that there were wood, plastic, fabric, metal, glass and aluminum so that the kids could do a lot of experimenting.
I would say this is the most popular tub I have every done! The kids loved it!
please do not use those metal balls. They are very dangerous and have killed children. Please think about safety, don't use them.

We are sort of in opposite boats =) I had 4 girls and THEN my boy =) My girls were all close in age (my 4th child-a girl-was born when my oldest was 4! and then the boy came a little over 2 and a half years after girl #4). We homeschool as well and have from the get-go. I will be using some of your ideas with my kiddos! Thanks for all you do!
